Today, our class was held online through Zoom. Our focus for today's class was challenges to sustainable development through social aspect, economic aspect and environmental aspects. We first started the class by updating on our current group project then our lecturer started the class by talking about the challenges to sustainability.
The general challenges to sustainability are inequalities of access to educational resources, health facilities, and access to food and clean water. These challenges represent the fundamental needs that are not equally accessible to all individuals. It is essential to tackle these inequities holistically and ensure fairness in all domains.
Next, specific challenges:-
- climate change and clean energy
- sustainable transport system
- sustainable consumption and production patterns
- global poverty
- conservation and management of natural resources
- public health system
- social inclusion, demography and migration issues.
These challenges require collaborative efforts to achieve sustainability. Therefore, collaboration with the government, organizations and communities is highly encouraged. This is to create sustainable solutions for the long-term global well-being.
Other than that, we have the key challenges to achieving sustainable development such as instability, implementation and governance. Instability such as political or economic hinders sustainable development efforts such as financial crises. Governance plays a crucial role in leadership and accountability in achieving sustainable development. To achieve those goals, it is essential to address these challenges through efforts.
Next, we have sustainable development through sustainable society. The focuses are social equity, economic efficiency and environmental responsibility. Apart from that, focusing on the economy, the key ideas for a sustainable economy are the promotion of efficiency and recycling. Using recycled materials, and reducing waste in production, packaging and distribution. Lastly, environmental challenges such as loss of biological diversity such as deforestation and pollution, climate change, scarcity of resources and overexploitation of natural resources.
