On week 5, we had no physical class at KENMS but we were assigned on an exciting task which we went to Dar al-Hikmah Library of IIUM with our group and took some exciting photos with several books and references related to the Sejahtera concept for sustainable development. We then wrote three engaging lessons about the Sejahtera concept for sustainable development from the readings of the books.
We found two books related to the Sejahtera concept, from which we can conclude the lesson learned. The first book is 'Essay on Sejahtera Concept, Principle and Practice' by Dzulkifli Abdul Razak.
In Essay on Sejahtera: Concept, Principle and Practice, Dzulkifli Abdul Razak shares three important lessons. First, Sejahtera emphasizes overall well-being, highlighting the need for balance in our spiritual, emotional, and environmental health for true happiness. Second, it teaches us that all aspects of society are interconnected, encouraging sustainable practices that benefit everyone. Lastly, the concept is rooted in traditional Malay values, promoting inclusivity and harmony among diverse cultures while honouring our heritage. These lessons inspire us to lead more meaningful and connected lives.
The next book is, 'Nurturing a Balanced Person: The Leadership Challenge, also by the same author, Dzulkifli Abdul Razak. "Nurturing a Balanced Person" by Professor Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak is a thought-provoking book that discusses the holistic approach to education and personal development. This book emphasizes the need for education systems that cultivate a well-rounded individual, focusing not only on intellectual achievements but also on emotional, social, ethical, and spiritual development.
In the book, Dzulkifli highlights the importance of fostering values and virtues alongside academic knowledge. This balanced person concept aligns with the philosophy of Insan Sejahtera (holistic individual). In conclusion, Dzulkifli's work encourages a reorientation of educational practices toward nurturing balanced, ethical, and socially responsible individuals.
