Salam all, though I joined the Sejahtera class on Week 3, I did watch the video provided by our lecturer, Prof. Dr. Suhaimi through iTa'Leem. Throughout the video of Week 1, our lecturer briefed and provided some explanations about sustainable development and the concept of sustainability. Here's what I reflected by the end of the session:-
1. Our lecturer defined sustainable development and the concept of sustainability. Sustainable means the ability to maintain while sustainable development addresses current demands while preserving future generations' ability to meet their own. It requires balancing economic growth, environmental conservation, and social well-being.
2. There are 3 concepts under sustainable development which are environmental conservation, economic development and social sustainability. Why is it important?
- for a viable natural environment
- a nurturing community
- a sufficient economy
3. Besides that, our lecturer also explained the evolution of sustainable development which surprisingly went from unsustainable development to millennium development and now we have 17 sustainable development goals altogether. Which transformed from 8 goals, 21 targets, 60 indicators 17 goals, 169 targets and 304 indicators.
4. Other than that, we studied the fundamental principles of sustainable development which are the 5Ps:- People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership.
Nice work👍🏻
ReplyDeletei love ur sharing! keep it up!
ReplyDeleteAs a student, I can start by making conscious decisions in my daily actions and encouraging others to do the same Prof! Just like recently, I went to a mall and saw the SDG goals being displayed at the entrance and I immediately told my friend how they could achieve it and where I got learned from. Hence, encouraging them to do too! By starting small and encouraging others, I can contribute to a broader and lasting impact Prof. Sustainability and Sejahtera are not just individual actions, they are collective efforts that can build a better future for all.
